The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a man wanted in connection with a July armed robbery.
Det. Sgt. H.L. Williams said investigators are still looking for information on the whereabouts of Jeremiah Mangum, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, who is facing charges of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and armed robbery after a July 12 incident left a victim needing stitches.
Williams said Mangum and two other men, identified as Donavan Edwards and Sequan Carter, both 16 and of Roanoke Rapids, robbed a man in the Brandy Creek area at gunpoint, assaulting him during the robbery. The victim then followed the suspects, who left the scene in their vehicle, and followed them up Interstate 95 northbound in his own car.
Williams said the suspects fired into the victim’s car as he followed them, and the suspects continued into Virginia. The Virginia State Police, Greensville County Sheriff’s Office and the Emporia Police were all notified, and the Emporia Police Department was able to find the vehicle and arrest Carter and Edwards.
Since then, Mangum has remained at large. Further investigation has linked Mangum to other crimes, and in addition to the charges associated with the July 12 incident, Mangum is facing charges of felony breaking and entering and felony possession of stolen goods.
Anyone with information regarding Mangum’s whereabouts is asked to call the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office at 252-583-8201 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
