A Jackson woman is facing charges after investigators say she stole money from her job.

Det. Sgt. H.L. Williams, of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, said the investigation began when a retailer in the Roanoke Rapids area reported they had come up short when going over their books and enumerated their deposits.

Williams said the investigation revealed on Aug. 10, an employee of the business took several thousand dollars in cash and walked out of the business.

The theft was recorded on video, Williams said.

Police arrested Cynthia Sellers, 47, of Jackson, today and charged her with larceny by employee. She is free under $6,000 bond and is due in court Dec. 19.
