A Weldon man was busted today with 84 grams of marijuana, authorities said.

Halifax County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Agent J.A. Puhak said agents Anzell Harris and Lt. Scott Hall, along with himself, were in South Weldon today following up on narcotics complaints when they approached two males during a narcotics investigation at 5 West 11th St.

A probable cause vehicle search was conducted, authorities said, resulting in the arrest of Derrick Lamont Shearin, 31, for possession of approximately 84 grams of marijuana.

The sheriff’s office is not releasing the second male’s name.

Shearin was processed for felony possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was given a Jan. 2 court date and freed after posting a $5,000 bond.
