DAV transportation network van The DAV Roanoke Valley Chapter 15 transportation network van is available to transport veterans to receive care at VA Medical Facilities. Transportation is provided on a case-by-case, first-come-first-served basis. The veteran must have a scheduled medical appointment at the VA facility. Requests for transport should be made as soon as possible but at least 48 hours in advance. Each veteran must contact the Roanoke Valley Chapter 15 van coordinator for transportation at the number below. Transportation can be provided only if an approved volunteer driver is available. Veterans Service Office Needs Your Help On May 29, 2004 the World War II Memorial will be dedicated in Washington, D. C. The Northampton County Veterans Service Office is arranging a 2 day bus trip for World War II veterans to attend this long over do event. The trip will begin on Friday May 28th when we will arrive in Washington, D. C., around lunchtime. After lunch we will go to the National Mall where there will be a large display of World War II equipment and memorabilia and many units from the war will be represented. Friday evening we will attend a musical and narrative salute to W.W.II veterans performed by elements of every branch of the service. On Saturday morning we will attend a memorial service at the National Cathedral. After lunch we will attend the dedication of the Memorial itself which will be attended by the President of the United States and many other dignitaries. The trip will be open to any World War II veteran from Northampton County and cost for each veteran will be just $10. The Veterans Service Office intends to cover the cost of the bus, overnight lodging, and meals for all participants. You can help in one or both ways. First we need to get the word out to each and every World War II veteran. Sigh ups for the trip will be taken beginning Aug. 11th and will continue until the bus is full. We will be able to take 50 veterans or a combination of veterans and spouses totaling 50. Secondly, if you or any organization you belong to would like to make a contribution to help with the cost of this project it would be most appreciated by these men and women who gave so much for their country.
