ROANOKE RAPIDS - The woman everyone wanted to see this morning made her appearance as her fans shouted and screamed her name and proclaimed their love for her.

Dolly Parton, on a tour promoting a new album, spent this morning in Roanoke Rapids and hammed it up for reporters, striking poses and talking about her upcoming appearance on CMT with British rocker Elton John.

“I picked out a gold and white dress,” she said. “I don't know what kind of dress he will wear.”

The fans loved everything she said and when asked by the Daily Herald during a press conference whether she believed her brother Randy's Carolina Crossroads Music Entertainment District would be a success, she said it would.

She said Randy and his wife Deb worked hard while with her at Dollywood. She described her brother as an excellent entertainer who knows the business well. “He's a great writer, singer and entertainer,” she said. “I certainly will want to come back.”

Dolly's sister Stella said during the news conference the district would usher in other activities such as celebrity golf tournaments and fishing tournaments.

Randy Parton said he was pleased that so many people showed up. “I hope you all will buy tickets to the theater.”
