Football jamboree

There will be a football jamboree at William R. Davie Middle School on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

The participants are Davie Middle, Brawley Middle, Chaloner Middle, Eastman Middle and Enfield Middle. Admission is $3.

Volleyball jamboree

There will be a volleyball jamboree at William R. Davie Middle School gym on Sept. 14 at 4 p.m.

The participants are Davie Middle, Brawley Middle, Eastman Middle and Enfield Middle. Admission is $2.

Hunter safety course offered

The Northampton County Recreation Department is offering a hunter safety course on Sept. 12-14 from 5:30-9 p.m. at the J.W. Faison Administration Building in Jackson. The class is free. You must be 12 or older to get certified, but you can take the class if you are younger. The wildlife Resource Commission will teach the course. For more information on the hunter safety course or to register contact James Roberts or Collin Sneed at 534-1303.

Nite-Lite Golf

The 5th Annual Glow-in-the-Dark Golf Tournament will be at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon on Sept. 26. Registration fee for 18 holes is $250 per team (four people per team). Tee-off time is at 4 p.m. Registration fee for 18 holes is $200 per team (four people per team).

Tee-off time is at 6 p.m. Players will be provided glow-in-the-dark balls and other necessary materials.

Youth basketball registration

The Roanoke Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is accepting basketball registration for youth ages 8-18. You may register at T.J. Davis Recreation Center through Oct. 31.

If your child has not played before, you must bring a birth certificate when registering. Registration fees are $10 for residents and $25 for non-residents. If you have any questions you can call the Recreation Department at 533-2847.
