EMPORIA, Va. - The truck driver involved in a fatality in Emporia, Va., last Friday has been released from the hospital, according to the city's police department.

Capt. Todd Anderson said this morning, however, that police are still investigating and charges have not been filed yet in the accident, in which four people were killed when the tractor-trailer crashed into their Honda SUV.

The SUV's occupants were Oris K. Hannah, 45, Barnard A. Marshal, 16, Jennell K. Hannah, 19, and Oris K. Hannah Jr., 16, all from Chesapeake, Va.

The tractor-trailer was driven by Roteria Parham of Alberta, Va., who was airlifted to the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond for medical attention but released a few days ago.

Parham's tractor-trailer smashed into the van while heading west on U.S. Highway 58 between the intersections of U.S. Route 301 and Market Drive, the press release said.

After the truck hit the SUV, it collided with the rear of another tractor-trailer and continued through the median with the SUV partially trapped beneath it, coming to a rest straddling Highway 58's eastbound lane.
