ROANOKE RAPIDS - Grammy winner and legendary country music star Charlie Daniels will return to Roanoke Rapids for Christmas, it was announced this morning.

Daniels and his band will be in concert for one night only, Dec. 18, as part of the Christmas festivities at The Randy Parton Theatre.

“We're excited to have Charlie Daniels as our first national act in the theater. We're expecting this show to be a sell out,” said Jim Craig, senior director of business development for UNICCO, the marketing firm which has taken over management of the theater for the city.

“We'll also be announcing soon our plans for an unforgettable New Year's Eve Party at the theater,” Craig added.

Tickets for the Dec. 18 performance will go on sale Monday at 10 a.m. at the Parton theater box office or by phone at 1(877) 672-7866. Daniels visited the Valley in September performing with Gretchen Wilson at Carolina Crossroads' outdoor venue.

The Dec. 18 Christmas show will begin at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by the Randy Parton Theatre House Band.

Boston-based UGL UNICCO took over the management of the theater earlier this month with plans to diversify performances to include nationally known country, gospel, rock, and beach music acts along with Broadway shows and various other theatrical productions.
