HALIFAX - A Lincoln Heights murder was reenacted over the weekend on a popular most-wanted show.

“I was grateful they did the reenactment,” Maj. Bruce Temple of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said this morning. “It was an accurate reflection of what happened that day. The murder was brutal. I hope it touched somebody in a way that might make them want to help locate Mr. (Henry) Richardson.”

The reenactment of the May 22 murder of 40-year-old Charlie Donnell Pierce was aired on Fox 50's “N.C.'s Most Wanted.”

Since the murder, Richardson has eluded arrest and Temple believes he has most likely fled the county. “We have every reason to believe he is not in the area. We've got non-specific feedback that leads us to believe he's elsewhere. We've got information that he was in a variety of places, none of which panned out.” Richardson has been entered into national criminal databases. “If we have an idea he might be in a specific place, we will notify local law enforcement,” Temple said. “We have a few more tricks of the trade I can't discuss because it may hinder our ability to catch him.”

Temple believes the segment, which can be viewed at www.ncwanted.com, was beneficial. “It did us a service. We maintain contact with Mr. Pierce's mother. She, like anyone else, is still hurt.”

The facts in the case haven't changed much since the murder occurred around 4 p.m., May 22. Richardson allegedly fired several shots at Pierce with a small-caliber handgun, one shot hitting him in the upper part of his body.

There was an altercation between Richardson and Pierce. Evidently, it infuriated Richardson enough to get a weapon and shoot him. In June, however, family members said Pierce had nothing to do with the altercation, that it was between other members of his family.

Richardson, who is considered to be armed and dangerous, is described as a black male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has black hair in short dreadlocks and brown eyes.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at 583-8051 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 583-4444.
