Why are you seeking political office?

“I desire to serve Halifax County in a greater capacity. As register of deeds, I would investigate new ways to accept documents to be recorded that would increase productivity with fewer errors, increase document security, and save time and money. I would also seek ways to make the public more aware of the register of deeds office and its various functions.

Why are you a Democrat or Republican?

I am a Democrat because the Democratic views are very similar to views I have on certain issues such as health care, civil rights and education.

What do you believe is the fundamental job of the post you are seeking?

To record, index and preserve important documents such as birth and death records, maps, deeds, books and other types of records. The register of deeds may also perform notarial acts.

How do you think you can make a difference?

I have over 15 years of government work experience. I enjoy government work and have served in many capacities. I have held positions with the Department of the Army - Office of the Provost Marshal in Hanau, Germany and the Department of the Army - Housing at Fort Drum, N.Y.

In local government, I have served with Halifax County Emergency Management, the Halifax County Health Department and Halifax County Manager's Office. I believe I can make a difference because my education and work experience has provided me with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve the goals I have envisioned for the register of deeds office. I am dedicated, hardworking and committed to serving the citizens of Halifax County.
