Around 5:30 a.m., the owner of Bolling Road Mart discovered front glass in his business had been smashed and the cash register was missing, along with two cases of beer, said Detective Gene Harris of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office.
Deputy Charlie Jenkins found a trail of beer cans that went to a wooded area behind the store. The trail was helpful because one of the people arrested lived in that area.
Justin Blake Barnes, 18, Joshua Wayne Fisher, 19, and Jacob Matthew Daniels, 18, all of Roanoke Rapids, were charged with breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods and damage to real property.
They were jailed on $10,000 bonds and have Aug. 6 court dates.
Harris said two of the men charged were arrested by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department for similar charges.
A spokesperson for the police department was not immediately available this morning.
