Weldon checkpoint successful

WELDON - A Friday night checkpoint was deemed a success, Weldon Police Chief Mark Macon said this morning.

The checkpoint was a multi-jurisidictional effort and included participation from the sheriff's offices in Halifax and Northampton counties.

The town police departments from Jackson, Garysburg, Enfield, Littleton and Roanoke Rapids assisted along with the Weldon Fire Department.

The BAT Mobile, a mobile alcohol testing vehicle, was also at the scene.

“It turned out to be a great night,” Macon said.

The following citations were given:

€ Eight expired registrations.

€ Thirteen expired inspections.

€ Four no operators license.

€ Six driving while license revoked.

€ Two driving while impaired.

€ Two open container,

€ One seat belt violation.

€ Two failure to carry license.

€ One improper headlight.

€ One littering.

€ One improper equipment.

€ One resist, obstruct and delay,

€ One false information to a law enforcement officer.
