Guardian Care was named the Best of the Valley and there was a picture of all the managers but what about giving credit and praise to those who really deserve it — the hardworking, most dedicated and best caregivers there are — the CNAs. Give credit where credit is due.

Right of center?

Why does the local paper’s opinion page seem to be a little bit right of center?

On the road

The folks who are following Sarah Palin are on the road to nowhere.

Board member

Why would a Northampton County School Board member want to make policy for the children of Northampton County when her children go to the charter school? How can she tell us what to do with our children? She needs to sit on their board.

Taxes

The Sound off! was that people who do not pay income taxes — not property taxes — shouldn’t have a right to vote ... After all, the working class pays for all the government handout’s primarily thanks to the Democrats.

Help us

Lord have mercy ... I don’t know which one I am going to vote for but I am praying that God will help us choose the right person for president.

Right decision

I would like to thank Congressman Butterfield for voting against the $700 billion emergency package that favored Wall Street. There are other ways to save the economy and also help the working class. We should not be bailing out these banks on Wall Street when they have proven they can’t manage a business to start with.

School board

How can a Northampton County board member choose how our children are educated when your child goes to Gaston College Prep?

Dropouts?

Why are there so many high school age boys on the streets of Weldon during the school day? ... Are there that many of them dropping out?

Drugs

Garysburg needs to do something about the drug sellers on Freeman Street.

Lessons learned

The folks in Washington D.C, have lost their minds ... How can you give billions of dollars to people who have proven all they can do is squander other people’s money? They have learned much in Congress ... I hope the Roanoke Rapids City Council has learned its lessons from the Randy Parton mess ...

" that board memeber yall keeping mentioning was voted in by your community. Maybe she is tring to make a change for the county so that she will be comfortable sending her children to the county schools "

" My problem with sound off is that a lot of people post comments, but the comments have no solutions or they make talk, but no explanations. Do not do these things unless you offer a reason or solution. I do think the newspaper should post a weekly column where one could address a problem to town officials and have that offical respond. Example: My street has bad potholes on USA Street when are they going to be fixed? Then someone from the city's street department could respond. "

" When will Halifax County come to its senses like 99% of NC and the nation did ages ago and consolidate all school systems into one central system to save taxpayers about 50% of their taxes paid to schools here? This is insanity. A Halifax County Unified School System would be 100% advantageous to everyone in the county and simplify the system costing taxpayers much less.
    This is a no-brainer. "

" Sarah Palin has made hypocrites out of all these whiny libs who have demanded changes yet refuse to acknowledge that SHE IS CHANGE even as a GOP.
And then there was Obama who dissed a Democrat named Hillary with her 18 mill votes rejecting her for a lackey named Biden who got less than 40k votes in the primary? Who are these hypocrites trying to kid? "
