ROANOKE RAPIDS – For those who love to see beautiful classic cars up close and personal, the second annual Corvettes & Classics car show is this weekend in the Roanoke Rapids Theatre parking lot and organizers are expecting up to 300 cars to be on display.

The show is presented by Carolina Crossroads and sponsored by White Chevrolet, White Chrysler and White Motors of Roanoke Rapids. The nationally sanctioned event is being hosted by the Eastern Carolina Corvette Club.

The National Council of Corvette Clubs is the sanctioning body for the Corvette part of the show, but there will be plenty of other cars besides just the Corvettes involved.

Carolina Crossroads will provide three Best of Show Awards, all worth $1,000 each for the winners in each division, which are Best Corvette, Best Classic Car and Best Wildcard overall, or Best in Show, which will be chosen by the event sponsor.

There will also be many other awards, including first, second and third places in each NCCC classification, awards for open class classic car and truck, special interest class, best engine, best paint, best interior and several others.

In addition to the entertainment provided by Carolina Crossroads, there will be static vehicle displays by local public service agencies including Emergency Medical Services (EMS), local police departments, the county sheriff’s office and the State Highway Patrol. The N.C. Department of Agriculture will also have their giant shopping cart on display. Angel’s Closet, a local charity, will be assisting with parking vehicles and accepting donations to its cause of providing clothing for Valley families in need. There is no charge for admission to the show which starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.
