Man dies in crash

ROANOKE RAPIDS —  A Washington, N.C., man died in a single-vehicle car crash Saturday morning, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.

According to a preliminary report filed by Trooper J.L. Fox, Carlos Rausenbach, 29, was traveling north on Lasker Road around 1:20 a.m.

The vehicle ran off the road to the right, struck a ditch and then struck a culvert. The vehicle overturned and Rausenbach was ejected.

Alcohol use is suspected and the man was not wearing a seat belt, according to investigators. An autopsy, including an alcohol test, will be performed.
