ROANOKE RAPIDS — Marion Guy Ferguson, 92, formerly of 311 Ashland St., Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

She was a member of Sweetwater Baptist Church in Portsmouth, Va., and attended Central Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids. She was a retired toll collector for the Commonwealth of Virginia and a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy Vick and Mary Rainey Vick; her husband, Shelton Ferguson; a son, Guy Ferguson; and a sister, Dorothy Borrell.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Tracey Dovel and her husband, Joe, of Dearborn, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, L.B. Dovel and Jacob Dovel; one niece, Naomi Woodward of Richmond, Va.; a sister-in-law, Kitty Hawkins of Roanoke Rapids;  and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 29, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements, and other times at the home of her sister-in-law, Kitty Hawkins, at 1426 Macon Ave.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 30, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Maurice Wheat and the Rev. Jimmy King officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
