Clarence Rufus ‘C.R.’ Clements

GARYSBURG — Clarence Rufus “C.R.” Clements, 80, of Garysburg, died Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Clements was born April 24, 1928, in Greensville County, Va., the son of Emmitt Rufus and Lucy Pearl Clements. He was preceded in death by both parents; his son, Robert Earl Clements Sr. and grandson, William Clarence Clements.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Mae Clements; daughter, Gloria Workman (Jim) of Garysburg; son, Steve Clements (Teresa) of Pleasant Hill; daughter, Renee Jordan (Henry) of Roanoke Rapids; son, Terry Clements (Donna) of Roanoke Rapids; 11 grandchildren, Robert Earl “Robbie” Clements (Jennifer), Rodney Clements (Danielle), Shannon Jones (Randall), Jonathan Workman (Jessica), Luke Clements (Jessica), Josh Clements, Jessica Johnson (Mike), Kelly Gentry (Aaron), Meagan Hammack, Bryan Clements, and Gesine Crockett; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., today, Nov. 5, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6, in the chapel of the funeral home, with Pastor Bill Brantner officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Evangelical Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Fund, P.O. Box 578, Gaston, NC 27832.
