ROANOKE RAPIDS — Mr. Leon Mack Stansbury, 71, of Roanoke Rapids, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Guardian Care of Rocky Mount.

Mr. Stansbury was born in Halifax County, the son of the late Mack B. Stansbury and Isabel Harrup Stansbury. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, William A “Bill” Stansbury, Vernon D. Stansbury and Alton S. Stansbury.

He is survived by his wife, Delores Davis Stansbury; two stepsons, Wilbur Daniel Pierce and his wife, Beth, of Charlotte and Brian Keith Pierce of Roanoke Rapids; four sisters, Mary A. Berg of Windsor, Va., Daisy S. Butler and Alice S. Kelly, both of Roanoke Rapids, and Linda S. Lewis of Chester, Va.; and several nieces and nephews, including a special loving niece, Barbara Muller of Rocky Mount.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until noon, Wednesday, Nov. 19, at Wrenn, Clarke & Hagan Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m., at Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids, with Al Joyner officiating.
