No one would have ever met a more caring, loving and giving woman. She always had an open home and an open heart. She personified the perfect sister, mother, grandmother, mammie, nannie, greatma and friend. We all love her and will miss her always. She was a member of Good News Baptist Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens and the Bibb Company after more than 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ransom Green Nowell and Ora Lee Monroe Nowell; her husband, Carl Virgil Lee; seven brothers and sisters, Ralph, James, Robert, Herbert and George Nowell, and Hazel Pay and Mabel Daniels.

She is survived by her son, Randy Lee (Pam) of Halifax; her daughters, Sandy Sparks (Dennis) of Roanoke Rapids and Tammy Barham (Michael) of Wake Forest; one brother, Wilbur Nowell of Franklin, Va.; one sister, Maggie Garner of Roanoke Rapids; two special loved ones, Allen Moss and Natalie Moss; her grandchildren, Jason Lee, Mary Campbell (Neal), Joshua Sparks, Heather Overton (Michael) and Jennifer Bailey (Clif); her great-grandchildren, Emilee Campbell, Jordan and Zachary Overton, and Jayden and Taylor Bailey; a number of special nieces and nephews; and her family at Good News Baptist Church.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20, at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which handled the arrangements. They will also receive friends at the home of her daughter, Sandy Sparks, 229 Franklin St.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at Good News Baptist Church, with the Rev. Greg Short and Minister Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
