NCC Registration for New Career Path

During our nation’s tough economic times, If you are looking for a new career path now is your time to consider an industry in which the next few years, will likely have ample opportunity for employees as half of our nation’s utility workers will be eligible for retirement, stated by National Public Radio, in addition saying that an experienced lineman can potentially earn $100,000 per year with overtime pay. 

Nash Community College in Rocky Mount is now registering students for two Electric Lineman Academies. One in January and the other in August. The next academy will begin January 12, 2009. The tuition cost for the entire 12 week program is only $736 for in-state students, out-of-state students can enroll for $3796.80. Scholarships and financial aid programs are sometimes available.                                            

NCC offers the only comprehensive lineman training program in North Carolina.  NCC’s electric lineman technology program consists of classroom instruction, hands-on line construction training, electrical theory, basic math and communication skills, power generation, transmission and distribution concepts, and climbing poles.

The Electric Lineman Academy awards students a Third Class Electric Lineman Certificate, including 400 hours of combined classroom and construction training. Upon completion, the student is qualified for employment as an entry-level line technician.
