Throughout the Valley, parades, craft fairs and other celebrations are on tap for the weekend.

One of the biggest fairs will be the annual Holiday Homemade Christmas Craft Bazaar at Becker Village Mall. The doors open at 10 a.m. Saturday and the event runs until 3 p.m.

The Roanoke Rapids parade steps off at 4:30 p.m., with some 70 plus entries already on the list of marchers. Seven bands and numerous floats in four different categories will entertain paradegoers as the stores and vendors along the Avenue offer special gift selections, beverages and food. The parade will go from 13th Street down the Avenue to First Street.

Leading the parade will be longtime civic leader Hugh Bazemore, this year’s grand marshal.

Friday evening, Gaston and Jackson will kick off their holiday activities with tree lightings and other celebrations.

Saturday parades are planned in Seaboard, Rich Square and Roanoke Rapids. Gaston and Scotland Neck are planning Sunday activities.
