William R. Carver

LITTLETON — Mr. William R. Carver, 67, of Littleton, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, in Roanoke Rapids.

Originally from New England, Bill served in the United States Navy for 24 years as an air traffic controller. After his retirement from the USN at the rank of Master Chief, he was a CADD draftsman in Virginia Beach for several years before retiring to Lake Gaston. Bill was proud of serving his community with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 93 and with the Long Bridge Volunteer Fire Department.

He will be missed by his wife, Leslie; his children, John and Carol; his grandchildren; and other family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, at the Long Bridge VFD.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 93, Long Bridge VFD, or to the American Cancer Society-Hope Lodge in Greenville.
