WELDON — Ruth Powell Thomas, 93, of Weldon, died Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids.

She is survived by her children, Shirley P. Bell of Littleton, Donald Powell of Weldon, Doris P. Ramsey of Durham, Lillian Powell and Judy P. Williams, both of Weldon, Michael Powell (Minister Mary) of Halifax and Raymond David Powell of Detroit; 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and a brother, Nathaniel Powell of Durham.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 8, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Roanoke Rapids, with Brother James Mallory Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Wood Cemetery in Weldon.

Cofield Mortuary in Weldon is handling the arrangements.
