Couple Celebrates 60th Anniversary

Wallace and Mary Edwards celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, Dec. 24. The couple was joined together in matrimony on Dec. 24, 1948, in Emporia, Va., by Pastor H.B. Jennings.

The couple has two daughters, Jane Butler and her husband, Frankie, and Connie Bryant and her husband, Steve; and one son, Ray Edwards and his wife, Kim. The couple treasures the memory of their deceased son, Wallace Wayne Edwards. They have five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren with the eighth due March 2009.

Mr. Edwards retired after 27 years with Signal Delivery. Mr. and Mrs. Edwards retired after 14 years from the Roanoke Rapids City school system. Mr. Edwards drove the special needs bus while Mrs. Edwards monitored the special needs children.
