The Lakeland Theatre Company in Littleton announces its 2009 season. Lakeland consistently offers the best entertainment value around, with family classics, musicals, plays, special events and concerts to suit everyone’s taste and style.

Lakeland will present great musicals, including Rodgers & Hammerstein’s “Cinderella,”  “Hello Dolly!,”  “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,”  “The Producers” and  “A Christmas Carol.”  Plays include “Lend Me A Tenor,”  “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest”  and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream. “

Special events like The Summer Musical Revue, The Lakeland Ambassadors Showcase, The L.O.V.E. Awards, The Crab Feed, The Young Peoples’ Theatre Workshop and Comedy Night are a part of Lakeland’s diverse season as well. Concerts will feature a patriotic summer concert and a Christmas concert by The Lakeland Singers.

‘Lend Me A Tenor’

Auditions for the March-April presentation of the hilarious farce “Lend Me A Tenor” will be held at 3:30 a.m., Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 10-11, at Lakeland.

Director Maria Hurst will cast all roles at this audition. “Lend Me A Tenor” opens March 27 and will run through April 11. Rehearsals will begin on or around Jan. 27. 

All roles are available. There are roles for four men and four women. Two men need to have tenor voices. Auditions will consist of reading from the script.

‘One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’

Auditions for the April-May presentation of the comedy-drama “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 18, and at 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 19, at Lakeland.

Director Susan King will cast all roles at this audition. “One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest” opens April 24 and will run through May 10. Rehearsals will begin on or around Feb. 7.

All roles are available, and no roles have been pre-cast. There are roles for 13 men and four women.  There are small roles for first-time actors and everyone is encouraged to audition.  Auditions will consist of reading from the script.

Please note that Lakeland is also looking for stage managers, backstage helpers and technical workers for both these shows with training available.

 Scripts are available for checkout from Lakeland (a deposit is required), for both these shows and anyone unable to make the Saturday or Sunday audition dates must call prior to auditions to schedule an alternate date.
