John Riddle’s final presiding efforts were completed at the Dec. 23 and Dec. 30 meetings of the Progressive Seniors. The Jan. 6, meeting of our group will convene at 9:30 a.m., in the Jo Story Senior Center with the 2009 officers. Our program will be about diabetes.

A correction is noted from the Dec. 23, meeting. A couple of our “ailing friends,” Ethel Glasgow and Myrtle Nance, were steadfast in their efforts to “stay in touch” with their “secret pals and friends” meriting words of praise from the group.

The Dec. 23, meeting was our Christmas celebration. Secret pals were revealed, gifts and cards were distributed and finger foods were served. Andre Teski found the dollar in the hymnal, and Madison Fowler received the registration gift.

The Dec. 30, meeting featured Ralph Tarbox with a devotional message form 1 John, about purposing to live in fellowship with God. Love God and one another. He who love God lives forever.

Frances Crawford’s poem for the day was “My First Christmas In Heaven.”

We welcomed two visitors, Josh Kane and Dee Copeland. Gladys Wells found the dollar in the hymnal and Grady Keeter received the registration gift.

Mary McLean read Luke 2:20; Simeon’s blessing of the Christ Child in Jerusalem

Ernest Newsome thanked his Secret Pal. We were reminded to give our old Christmas cards to Patsy Lassiter for “crafts.”
