• Northampton County Emergency Management’s Tim Byers reports collateral damages are minimal after Wednesdays high winds and rain-soaked ground brought down trees all around the county. “At 6:30 last night we had reports of downed light lines and trees in Jackson and Lasker. There were some trees down in Pendleton near the Hertford County line, and some homes were damaged by falling limbs,” he said.

• Bryant Brooks of Dominion Power reports that at the storm’s peak, there were 1,040 customers without power. These outages were scattered in Roanoke Rapids and around Lake Gaston. All of the outages were due to trees breaking the lines. Brooks said Thursday morning everything has been restored except in the Boykins, Va., area where 45 customers are still without power. He expects power to be restored by mid afternoon Thursday. “That one involves broken poles and several spans of conductor (wire),” he said. He confirmed that damage was also from the storm.

• Halifax County Emergency Management Coordinator Tina Hinton reported Thursday morning that numerous trees and limbs blown down by wind gusts up to 60 mph caused damage across the county. “Most of the problems were caused by trees, limbs and debris blocking roads,” Hinton said. “The DOT (Department of Transportation) and volunteer fire departments were busy all day Wednesday and most of the night clearing debris from the roads.” Hinton said a warehouse in Enfield had a roof blown off and at least two cars hit fallen trees blocking the roadways, but no injuries had been reported.

• According to Brady Martin, manager of marketing and economic development for Halifax Electric Membership Corp.,  some 300 consumers were affected by power outages during the storm. The worst hit area was between Scotland Neck and Hobgood. All power was restored by Thursday morning.
