Valley student graduates from Virginia State

Shronda L. Smith, the daughter of David S. and Patricia Smith of Roanoke Rapids, graduated with a 3.8 GPA from Virginia State University on Saturday, Dec. 13, with a Master’s in Counselor Education with a specialty in school counseling. She is a member of Chi Sigma Iota Honor Society, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and the American School Counselor Association. Throughout her matriculation she was awarded the R.H. Kidd scholarship given by Quankey Baptist Missionary Church, of which she is a member.

She is a 1994 graduate of Northwest Halifax High School and a 1998 graduate of Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She has accepted a job with Weldon City Schools as a middle school counselor. She is the granddaughter of Claudette Williams and the late Odies P. Williams of Roanoke Rapids; also Davis Smith Jr. of Roanoke Rapids and Queen Faison of Richmond, Va.
