Staff Sgt. Shelia and Staff Sgt. Mon’tae Sledge of Missouri announce the birth of a daughter, Mon’tia La’Naija Sledge, on Feb. 6, 2009, at General Leonardwood Army Community Hospital. She weighed 7 lbs. 8 ozs. and was 20 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Roberta and Randy Fourmen of St. Louis, Mo. Paternal grandparents are Freda and Cleophus Sledge of Gaston. She also has a brother, Truvon.

Ginger and Jody Tripp announce the birth of a daughter, Ava Roslyn Tripp, on Jan. 24, 2009. She weighed 6 lbs. 3 ozs. and was 18-1/2 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Shirley Chappell of Rocky Mount and the late Danny Patterson. Great-grandparents are Gloria Daugherty and the late Sherman Daugherty Sr. Paternal grandparent is Joseph Tripp Sr. She has one sister, Julia Tripp, and two brothers, Jakob and Jeremy Tripp.
Shane and Joann Pearson of Roanoke Rapids announce the birth of a daughter, Shyann Pearson, on Jan. 25, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids. She weighed 6 lbs. 4 ozs. and was 18-1/2 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Margaret Kennedy of Roanoke Rapids and the late Neil Kennedy and the late Jordan Percy “J.P.” Parker. Paternal grandparents are Derlie Pearson of Gaston and the late Bennie “Ben” Pearson. She also has two brothers, A.J. and Peyton Pearson.
