Patterson receives award by Special to the Daily HeraldMURFREESBORO — At an awards banquet held on Feb. 19, the Chowan Community came together to celebrate the many awards that the Chowan University Department of Graphic Communications won this year in the annual PICA competition. The prestigious PICA Awards, given by The Printing Industry of the Carolinas Inc., demonstrate a commitment to excellence in graphics communications. Since 1966, the PICA Awards have been the premier symbol of excellence for the graphics industry in North and South Carolina. Several individual Chowan University graphic communications students also won distinguished awards for their works this year, including Michael Patterson, a senior from Roanoke Rapids, who won the “Award of Excellence” for screen printing with a four color process on textiles for his work “Wild Horses.” Ryan Godwin, a senior from Ahoskie, along with Anna Parker, a senior from Roxobel, won a “Special Judges Award” for offset printing with a four color process on a finished production for their work “A Story Through Our Eyes.” For more information about Chowan University, visit www.chowan.edu or call 1-888-4-CHOWAN. |
