Moses Joyner

ROANOKE RAPIDS — Moses Joyner, 91, of 408 Summitt Avenue, Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2009, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Joyner was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was retired from J.P. Stevens after 47 years of service. He was a World War II Army Veteran and received five bronze stars: Battle of Normandy, Northern France, Battle of the Bulge, D-Day. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Joyner.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Leggett of Gaston; granddaughters, Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Leggett of Roanoke Rapids, Julie Troxler and her husband, David of Clayton, and Kristy Wright; grandsons, William “Bill” Jonathan Leggett and wife, Paulette of Goldsboro and Brandon Wright and wife, Kelly of Sanford; four great-grandchildren, Billy Leggett, Nicholas and Kylie Leggett and CadeTroxler; one sister, Hazel Daniels of Roanoke Rapids and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., today, March 1, at First Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Rudolph Britt officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
