CONWAY — Hazel Maxine Lassiter Stephenson, 92, of Conway, died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009.

 Mrs. Stephenson was born Dec. 3, 1916 in Johnston County, the daughter of the late Shade A. Lassiter and Bertha Gertrude Goddard Lassiter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl Jennings Stephenson. She retired from Aster Nut Company after working there for twenty years.

 She is survived by her daughters, Veronica Byrd (Harvey) of Severn, Wanda Baker (Gary) of Nags Head, Kitty Weiskopf (Frank) of Baltimore MD, Nancy Latone (Dave) of Rochester, NY, and Donna Futrell (Roby) of Conway. Her son, Jennings Stephenson (Berta) of Laurel Springs, NJ. Fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and nieces. Also a very special caregiver, Dorothy Taylor.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 2, at 1p.m. at Jackson Baptist Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Bob Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Beechwood Cemetery, Boykins, VA.

The family will receive friends at Massey Funeral Home in Jackson, today, March 1, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
