LITTLETON — Lillian Burton Alston of 815 Bacon Road, Littleton, departed this life peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2009, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

She was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Littleton, the youngest of 12 children born to the late Tom and Gratsie Burton.

During her early years, she joined Oak Grove Baptist Church. She continued professing her faith and formed a personal relationship with God.

Lillian was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend. She always expressed thanks for her family and friends, even in the last hours of her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Thomas Edward, Herbert, William and Sterling Burton; and seven sisters, Rachel Boone, Mary Alice Whitfield, Irene Williams, Donnie Walker, Beulah Glover, Lottie Leake and Rethella Price.

Treasured memories of her life will remain with her husband, Ray “Pug”; her seven children, Marcel, Valeria, Antonio, Andrea, Lori (Louie), Kimberly and April (Christopher); her three grandchildren, Melanie, Le’Var and Latisha; one great-grandson, Jaylen; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 3, at the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home in Littleton, which is handling the arrangements, with the Rev. Will C. Tabron officiating. Entombment will be at Crestview Memorial Cemetery in Roanoke Rapids. The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m., Friday, April 3, at the funeral home before the service.
