Lawrence Richard Strum

NORLINA — Mr. Lawrence Richard Strum, 70, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at his residence.

Mr. Strum was a Clarksville, Va., native born to the late Rennie Strum and Eva Hite Strum. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran and attended Wise Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Hayes Strum; his son, Ricky Strum and his wife, Sonya, of Roanoke Rapis; his stepdaughter, Joyce Thompson and her husband, Scott, of Boydton, Va.; one granddaughter, Haley Strum; and two stepgrandsons, Jason and Trevor Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., today, April 13, at Blaylock Funeral Home in Warrenton, which is handling the arrangements.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, at Wise Baptist Church, with the Rev. Kenny Davis officiating. Pallbearers will be Allen Brockwell, Gary Paynter, James Knight, Linwood Wall, Butch Meek, Lloyd Williamson and Danny Paynter.  Burial will follow in Wise Cemetery.
