The Distinguished Service award was designed to recognize medical directors who are truly inspirational in their involvement at their centers. In order to be considered for the award, a written nomination had to be submitted by the nursing center executive director, director of nursing services or district director. Recipients were selected from dozens of nominations from around the country.

Lisa Bradley, RN, director of nursing at Guardian Care, said of Miller, “I have known Dr. Miller for approximately eight years and have had the honor and the privilege of working with him as our medical director. During this time I have seen his loyalty and dedication not only to his residents but the facility as a whole. He is willing to meet with families here in the building even if they are not his residents.”

“He brings much skill and knowledge to the facility as he is a member of our PI committee and attends them monthly. He is an integral part of analyzing problems, resolutions and forming facility policies to ensure exceptional care of our residents.”

“He is always available when we have annual state surveys and is here to answer any questions they may have. He is a great leader and role model to everyone and all departments.”

The Distinguished Service award plaque reads, “For meritorious service in providing outstanding Medical Direction and Leadership. In honor and celebration of your dedicated service to patients, residents and their families, for representing the center positively in the community and facilitating a caring culture among the staff.”

Guardian Care of Roanoke Rapids is a 110 bed skilled nursing center that provides sub acute care, rehabilitation and wound care for patients that wish to recuperate and return home.  Kindred Healthcare, an award winning national healthcare services company, manages Guardian Care of Roanoke Rapids.
