August wedding planned

Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wayne Wood of Skippers, Va., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, announce the engagement of their daughter, Sarah Lynn Wood of Atlanta, to Adam Price Mathes of Smyrna, Ga.

Mr. Mathes is the son of Mrs. Addie Price Mathes and Mr. Richard Knittel of Atlanta, Dr. Benjamin Mathes of Dawsonville, Ga., and Dr. Mickie Mathes of Doha, Qatar.

Miss Wood, a graduate of Meredith College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, is a speech pathologist at Kennesaw Mountain High School in Kennesaw, Ga.

Mr. Mathes, a graduate of the University of Georgia, served five years in the U.S. Marine Corps and is now vice president of business development for Prime Power Services in Atlanta.

An August 2009 wedding is planned.
