Martin appointed to Mid-South BBS board by Special to the Daily HeraldROANOKE RAPIDS — KapStone Kraft Paper Corp., recently announced the appointment of Linda Hawkins Martin to the Mid-South Behavior Based Safety (BSS) Association’s executive board. Martin will serve a two-year term on the board. The association consists of industries utilizing a behavior-based safety approach in their workforce. It provides a cost-effective networking resource to assist its members in achieving an injury-free work environment. “It is my goal to be a positive voice for the continued success of the BBS process at our mill and in our industry,” said Martin. “I will work to provide assistance to other industries and businesses that embrace the Mid-South organization by sharing best ideas and practices.” Martin currently serves as the B-Mill safety coordinator and has held the position of 3rd hand on No. 3 Paper Machine. In her role as safety coordinator, she is responsible for collecting, trending and communicating safety data gathered from the observation process to assist in developing improvement plans to prevent potential injuries. She is a graduate of Northwest Halifax High School and attended North Carolina State University. Martin is a member of the Lighthouse Deliverance, No. 1 Church. She and her husband, Chuck “Kern” reside in Roanoke Rapids. They have two daughters, Jamila and Kristen. |
