ENFIELD — Jean Harris Moore went home to be with her Lord on May 14, 2009.

She was born March 25, 1928, in Halifax County, to Willie D.  and Lee Paramore Harris. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lee Moore; her brothers, Dewey Ray and James Albert Harris; and a sister, Phyllis H. Harrison.

Jean led an active life which included traveling, golfing, crocheting, gardening, teaching Sunday school, playing the organ and directing choir at her church.

In the last year, Jean’s caregivers have become family to her.  Appreciation is expressed to Willie Mae Kilpatrick, Delois Byrd and Celestine Pittman for their loyal and loving care. The family also thanks Jean’s church family for their love and support as well as Hospice Care of Nash.

Jean is survived by one sister, Mary Leigh H. Summers of Greensboro; her sisters-in-law, Christine Moore of Scotland Neck and Dallas M. Turner of Rocky Mount; her brothers-in-law, Oscar Moore and his wife, Shirley, of Greenville, Tommy Rufty of Scotland Neck and Bob Harrison and his wife, Gail, of Simpsonville, S.C.; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, May 18, at the Dawson Baptist Church, with Pastor Ricky Sorie officiating.  The family will receive friends at 1:30 p.m., prior to the service at the church Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in her memory to Dawson Baptist Church, 9775 Thirteen Bridges Road, Enfield NC 27823.

Sykes Funeral Service in Scotland Neck is handling the arrangements.
