Miss Boseman becomes the bride of David William Roberts on May 16

Sara Margaret Boseman of Littleton and David William Roberts of Piney Point, Md., formerly of Roanoke Rapids, exchanged wedding vows during a 5 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, May 16, 2009, at Rosemary Methodist Church in Roanoke Rapids.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Boseman III of Littleton. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Graham Gulley Jr. of Southern Pines and the late Mr. and Mrs. William Jackson Boseman Jr. of Littleton.

The bridegroom is the son of Ms. Susan Reynolds Roberts of Roanoke Rapids and Mr. John J. Roberts of North Palm Beach, Fla. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gilbert Reynolds of Roanoke Rapids and Mr. and Mrs. John Thomas Roberts of Burgaw.

The Rev. James Douglas Bell performed the nuptial ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Mr. Dwight Payne Berry of Roanoke Rapids, organist, and Mrs. Denise Miller Hackenburg of Roanoke Rapids, soloist.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown with a cathedral-length train of ivory and rum tissue taffeta. The multi-pleated strapless sweetheart neckline was adorned with beadwork accenting the empire waist with the floor-length skirt extending into a cathedral-length train with hand beaded buttons cascading down the back of the dress to the hemline of the skirt and train. The bride wore her late great-grandmother Mary Lillian Fountain Lawrence’s lavalier and her late grandmother Sara Crawley Boseman’s pearl earrings.

For her headpiece, the bride wore white Eskimo roses and accented with ivy in her hair. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of white Eskimo roses accentuated with ruscus and wrapped with a cream satin ribbon.

Dr. Mary Fountain Boseman Powell of Poquson, Va., sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Miss Janice Nicole Jordan of Roanoke Rapids served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Christina Roberts Albritton of Clayton, Mrs. Claudia Smith Edmondson of Angier, Miss Ashley Elizabeth Perkinson of Charlotte, Miss Keri Leigh Privette of Buies Creek, Mrs. Heather Edwards Merritt of Roanoke Rapids and Mrs. Carrie Vinson Webb of Chapel Hill.

Serving as flower girls were Little Miss Briana Paige Albritton of Clayton and Little Miss Halle Lythe Gulley of Southern Pines. Master Christopher Owen Albritton of Clayton served as ring bearer.

Mr. Timothy Brian Albritton of Clayton, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Kenneth Dale Kolb of Irmo, S.C., Mr. Edward William Novotny of Washington, D.C., Mr. William Byrum Powell of Poquoson, Mr. John Thomas Roberts II of Baltimore, Mr. Josh Paul Seamans of Piney Point, Md., and Mr. Drew Patrick Turner of Atlanta. Ushers were Mr. Thomas Lawrence Gulley II of Raleigh and Mr. Christopher Lee Gulley of Wilmington.

Miss Hannah Louise Anderson of Burlington served as mistress of ceremonies. Miss Laura Kaitlin Foley served as the crucifer, torchbearers were Mr. Bryan Hays Dean and Mr. Justin Edward Vincent, and acolyte was Mr. Christian Reid Lynch. Miss Megan Ann-Marie Brooks and Mrs. Shannon Yvonne Roberts served as greeters.

The bride is a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School in Roanoke Rapids. She is a graduate of Peace College and East Carolina University with a degree in nutrition. She is in her third year of Pharmacy School at Campbell University in Buies Creek.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School. He received his undergraduate degree and Master’s in Aerospace Engineering form North Carolina State University. He is employed with the Department of Defense in Lexington Park, Md.

After a honeymoon to Antigua, the couple will reside in Piney Point.

A reception hosted by the bride’s parents was held following the ceremony at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. Guests were greeted by Mrs. Leonard Elbridge Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Maddrey Crawley, Mrs. Joseph Curtis Hardee Jr. and Mrs. Kenneth Dale Kolb Sr.

On the eve of the wedding an after-rehearsal dinner, hosted by the bridegroom’s mother, was held at Chockoyotte Country Club. An evening of dancing followed the dinner and was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Vinton Bruton, Mr. Sandy Cox, Mr. and Mrs. Zan Day, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gowen, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Green, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Gulley, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gulley, Mr. John Gulley, Mr. Pete Gulley, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Homewood, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Hux, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hux, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Merritt, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Minton, Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill White.

A bridesmaid’s luncheon was held on Friday, May 15, at the home of Mrs. Judy Anderson in Enfield. Hostesses for the luncheon were Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Betty Crawley and Mrs. Jane Kolb. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her bridesmaids and flower girls.

On Saturday, the bridegroom, groomsmen and friends enjoyed a day of skeet shooting on the Harris Farm in Enfield. Host for the day was Bill Harris.

An engagement party was held on Jan. 10, at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. Hosts for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Brian Albritton, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Deese, Mrs. Mary Frances Fisher, Mr. O.G. Gulley, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Rightmyer, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Kolb, Mrs. Jane Kolb, Mr. and  Mrs. George Lewis, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lynch, Ms. Ashley Perkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Will Powell.

Mrs. Travis Merritt and Mrs. Robert Merritt hosted a bridal shower on March 14 at the home of Mrs. Robert Merritt in Roanoke Rapids.

On March 22, a bridal shower was held at the home of Brenda Brown in Nashville. Hostesses were Pam Bass, Susan Davis, Harriett Fisher, Mary Ann Holland, Kim Garner, Robin Griffin, LaRue Johnston, Paula Moore, Mayre Smith, Beverly Thompson and Cathy Wittman.

A bachelorette weekend, hosted by Mary Boseman Powell, was held in Charleston, S.C., on Feb. 28. A surprise lingerie shower was given by Claudia Edmondson and Janice Jordan.

A bachelor weekend bash was held in Clayton on March 7. Host was Mr. Brian Albritton.

Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Thompson of Lake Gaston hosted a stock-the-bar party at their home on May 2.
