Steven Earl Gwaltney FREMONT — Steven Earl Gwaltney, 18, went to be with the Lord suddenly on Saturday, May 16, 2009, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Steven was born Oct. 25, 1990, in Wayne County, to Todd and Beth Davis Gwaltney of Fremont. Steven was a member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church, but was working diligently with his family on a mission church, Freedom Free Will Baptist Church in Roanoke Rapids. He will be remembered as the family comedian and as a musician that enjoyed playing the guitar. Steven had an outgoing personality and loved working and playing with kids. He knew no stranger and deeply loved his family. He was preceded in death by his brother, Christopher A. Ream, on Dec. 23, 2008; his maternal grandfather, Nathan Rose Davis; and his paternal grandparents, Knotty and Bobbie Gwaltney. In addition to his parents, Steven is survived by his brother, Daniel Gwaltney of the home; his maternal grandmother, Hazel Sauls Davis of Eureka; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., today, May 19. in the fellowship hall of Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro, with his funeral service beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the sanctuary. The Rev. Christian Powell, the Rev. Fred Carraway and the Rev. Bradley Dixon will officiate. Interment will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 20, at Eureka Cemetery. The family, at other times, will be at the home of Hazel S. Davis, 2356 Davis Mill Road, Fremont.
