Couple wed June 13 at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church

Jeana Lindsee Dickens of Littleton and Robert Carlton Cooke of Lake Gaston exchanged wedding vows during a 5 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Harvest Temple Pentecostal Holiness Church in Roanoke Rapids.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Eddie Dickens of Littleton. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Earl Hale of Enfield, Mrs. Margaret Daughtry and the late Romie “Ike” Daughtry of Roanoke Rapids, and Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Nicholson Dickens Sr. of Lake Gaston.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Sykes of Coker, Ala., and the late Mr. William O. “Pete” Cooke of Enfield. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Carlton Murphy of Enfield and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wollett of Hollister.

Pastor Ron Carpenter Jr. of Redemption World Outreach Center in Greenville, S.C., cousin of the bride, performed the nuptial ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Miss Nancy Brown, violinist, and Mrs. Ligeia Brown, pianist. A picture slideshow of the bride and bridegroom was shown after the guests were seated.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a floor-length strapless gown with slight ruching along the bodice with a dropped waistline while the buttons down the back flowed into a lace skirt. For her headpiece, the bride wore a two-tiered veil, one tier extended to cathedral-length.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of orange and peony roses wrapped with ivory satin ribbon designed by Wayne Massey. The bride carried her late great-grandmother’s handkerchief tied to the stems of her bouquet while wearing the first ring given by her father to her mother.

Miss Ashlee Hayden Dickens of Raleigh, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Kaylee Elisabeth Dickens of Littleton, sister of the bride, Miss Martha Erin Smith of Enfield, Miss Ashley Renee Brown of Littleton and Miss Lauren Marie Carroll of Greenville, all friends of the bride and bridegroom.

Mr. Graham Spencer Bellamy of Nashville, friend of the bridegroom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Charlie Clarence Creech Jr. of Nashville, friend of the bridegroom, and Mr. Michael Brandon Newsome and Mr. Darrell Clarke Morris, both of Littleton and friends of the bride and bridegroom. Serving as ring bearer was Master Kaden Padgett of Wilmington, cousin of the bride.

Mrs. Starlette Hedgepeth of Halifax served as mistress of ceremonies. Miss Sara Bullard of Charlotte and Miss Emily McIlquham of Halifax, cousins of the bride, served as program and guest book attendants.

Mrs. Darrell Clarke Morris lit a memory candle in honor of the bridegroom’s late father, Pete Cooke.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Halifax Academy and a graduate of Edgecombe Community College with a degree in radiology. She is employed at Rocky Mount Orthopedics.

The bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of Enfield Academy and a graduate of Wayne Community College with a degree in forestry. He is employed at N.C. Department of Correction in Tillery.

After a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean, the couple will reside on Lake Gaston.

A reception following the ceremony was hosted by the bride’s parents at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Mike Hedgepeth, Mrs. Collete Fox and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Long. Food was prepared by Doris Riggs catering, while music was provided by Sound Good Entertainment.

On the eve of the wedding an after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s mother and stepfather at Hilton Garden Inn.

A bridesmaid’s’ luncheon was held on Friday, June 12, at Watersview Restaurant on Lake Gaston by the bride, her mother, Mrs. Sylvia Hale Dickens, and her grandmother, Mrs. Jean Clark Hale. The bride chose this time to present gifts to her bridesmaids.

On April 16, a bridal shower was given at the Harvest Temple Fellowship Hall by Mrs. Betty Anne Mohorn, Mrs. Lisa Bullard, Mrs. Carolyn Wood and Ms. Michelle Dickens, all aunts of the bride, and Ms. Margaret Daughtry, grandmother of the bride. Food and punch was prepared by Mrs. Ann Simmons.

Mrs. Starlette Hedgepeth and Mrs. LeeAnne Long hosted a Pampered Chef party at Mrs. Hedgepeth’s home on April 11.

A bridal shower was given by co-worker’s of the bride.

A bachelorette/bachelor weekend was given by Miss Ashley Brown at her summer home at Nags Head.

An engagement party was held on July 25, 2008, by Kelly and Dale Jones, friends of the bride and bridegroom, at their home.
