Camden is the squad that defeated the Roanoke Rapids girls last year, so a rematch is on the minds of many. Head coach Booby Martin was an assistant last year and assistant  Rodney Robertson was the head coach last season, when they lost.

However this year, will be another chance, another story line.  Hunter Martin, Emma Mckeel, Brooke McCleeny and Brooke Robertson are the veterans returning to play once again as All-stars.

The turning point for Martin is going to be the girls who played as All-stars in the U8 but made the grade for the U10 tourney. Drew Rose, Karen Alston, Jesse Lucas, Lauren Oliver and Alexis Jones.

“I am pleased how the girls have adapted from the machine pitch in the U8 to someone throwing to you here in this league, it’s a big transition, said Martin.”

“We have a lot of speed, the girls are hustlers on the field and have shown to have a strong work ethic. The girls will face the hosting team Cashie at today at 4 p.m.

Even with double elimination rules, the coaches and girls hope to only play three games, while anxiously working their way to play Camden for the hardware.
