Miss Hodges becomes the bride of Johnnie Franklin Perdue Jr. on June 27

Susan Lee Hodges of Roanoke Rapids and Johnnie Franklin Perdue Jr. of Clayton exchanged wedding vows during a 3 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Amelia Christian Church in Clayton.

The bride is the daughter of Jimmy and Jo Anne Hodges of Roanoke Rapids. She is the granddaughter of James and Jean Hodges of Rocky Mount and the late Clarie Boykin of Rocky Mount.

The bridegroom is the son of Johnnie and Vi Perdue of Clayton. He is the grandson of Louis Pourron and the late Christine Pourron of Clayton and the late John and Marie Perdue of Henderson.

The Rev. Keith DeBord performed the nuptial ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Mrs. Debbe Langdon, pianist and soloist, and Mr. Matt Dupree, soloist.

Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, the bride wore a floor-length gown of both beauty and tradition. The strapless white lace gown featured a scalloped neckline with a fit and flare silhouette. The all lace gown was accented with tiny crystals, pearls and clear sequins. The lace of the semi-cathedral train extended beyond the satin lining.

For her headpiece, the bride wore a fingertip-length single tiered veil with crystal and sequin edging to compliment the gown.

The bride carried a hand-tied clutch of hot pink, orange and yellow roses, stephanotis with pearls, and green hypericum berries with ruscus and wrapped in hot pink ribbon.

Miss Christina Perdue of Clayton, sister of the bridegroom, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Abigail Corpening of Cary, Miss Hannah Langdon, Miss Emily Moss and Miss Erin Parker, all of Clayton and friends of the bride.

Miss Caroline Jenkins of Vale, cousin of the bridegroom, served as flower girl. Ring bearer was Mitchell Seymour of Raleigh, cousin of the bridegroom.

Mr. Johnnie Perdue served as his son’s best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Brian Hodges of Raleigh, brother of the bride, Mr. Thomas Perdue of Clayton, brother of the bridegroom, and Mr. Jay Johnson of Clayton and Mr. Spencer Smith of Raleigh, friends of the bridegroom.

Mr. Justin Calhoun, Mr. Eric Mooneyham, Mr. Matt Warren and Mr. Corey Yesavage, all of Clayton, served as ushers.

Ms. Nancy Perdue of New Bern, aunt of the bridegroom, served as mistress of ceremonies. Program attendants were Miss Caroline Baum and Miss Julie McGee, both of Raleigh and former roommates of the bride. Miss Conner Sprinkle of Troutville, Va., cousin of the bride, was the register attendant.

The bride is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a concentration in marketing. She is employed as a support technician at North Carolina State Employees Credit Union in Raleigh.

The bridegroom is a graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed as an engineer-in-training at Terracon Consulting Inc. of Raleigh.

After a honeymoon trip to Mexico, the couple will reside in Clayton.

A reception, hosted by the bride’s parents, was held following the ceremony at The Clayton Civitan Club. Guests were greeted by Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Pourron, aunt and uncle of the bridegroom. Ms. Patricia Ayscue and Mrs. Trisha Pourron, aunts of the bridegroom, served the cake. Ms. Joyce Moore, aunt of the bridegroom, assisted at the candy buffet and favor table.

On the eve of the wedding, an after-rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnnie Perdue, at Wayne’s Kitchen in Clayton.

An engagement dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s parents at Wayne’s Kitchen in Clayton on March 21.

A miscellaneous wedding shower was hosted by the Parnell family on April 26 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Worley, great-aunt and uncle of the bride.

On May 3, Amelia Christian Church friends hosted a wedding shower in the church fellowship hall.

A bachelorette beach weekend was held on May 15 at Myrtle Beach, S.C. Hostesses were bridesmaids and friends of the bride.

The bride’s mother hosted a bridal shower on May 30 in Roanoke Rapids.

A bachelor outing to a Durham Bulls game and dinner was held on May 30. Mr. Thomas Perdue, brother of the bridegroom, hosted the event.

A bridal luncheon was held on June 20 at the Morning Glory Inn in Clayton. Miss Christina Perdue, sister of the bridegroom, and Mrs. Trisha Pourron, aunt of the bridegroom, hosted the luncheon.

A surprise luncheon was given by the bride’s coworkers on June 23.
