Betty Lou White Taylor

CONWAY — Betty Lou White Taylor, 79, died Thursday, June 25, at her home in Conway.

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, Edward Stewart “Buck” Taylor; her parents, R. Jennings White and Hettie Mae “Kitty” Cannon White; and a sister, Kathleen White Woodard.

A native of Northampton County, she was a caring homemaker who, previously, had worked as a clerk with the United States Postal Service in Conway. She was a lifelong member of Conway Baptist Church. She was a devoted grandmother, affectionately known to her family and especially to her grandchildren, as “Mimi.”

Survivors include a son, Edward Stewart Taylor Jr. and his wife, Vicki, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Kitty Taylor Mann and her husband, Steve, of Pendleton; her grandchildren, Michelle Maher and her husband, Brian, of Mesa, Ariz., Shannon Cady and her husband, Chris, of Charlotte, Justin Mann of Raleigh, Mariah McKellar and her husband, Joe, of Greenville and Leigh Mann of Raleigh; her great-grandchildren, Madison Maher, Erin Maher, Caroline Cady and Nicholas Cady; a sister, Montie White Jenkins of Pendleton; a brother, R. Jennings White Jr. and his wife, Anne, of Conway; and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 28, at the Town of Conway Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. James Crocker and Rev. James Hester officiating.

The family received friends from 7 to 9 p.m., Saturday, June 27, at Bridgers Funeral Home Inc. in Conway, which is handling the arrangements.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, anyone wishing to share a memorial gift, please do so to the Roberts Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund.
