Williams graduates from Cambridge

Chemeka La’Shawn Williams graduated from Cambridge College University with honors on June 9.  Williams received her Masters in Education (School Counseling) with a grade point average of 3.9. Williams attended the commencement ceremony which was held in Boston. There were approximately 1,100 graduates at the ceremony.

Williams also graduated Magna Cum Laude from North Carolina Central University in 2007, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education. Williams graduated in 2005, receiving her Associate in Arts in Information Systems Technology from Halifax Community College. Williams is a 1996 Valedictorian graduate of Weldon High School and the daughter of Angela F. Turner and James R. Johnson of Roanoke Rapid.

During her commute to Cambridge College, Williams was also supported by her husband, Thomas Williams, and her four children, Tatiyanna, Shaleik, Nacyiah and Naseyah Williams.

She is a  member of ASCA and ACA and is employed as a teacher with Weldon City Schools. She is currently working to complete her LPC’s to become a licensed professional counselor. Williams will also be pursuing her doctoral degree in educational psychology in the fall.

U.S. Achievement Academy

The United States Achievement Academy announced that Baylee Edwards from Roanoke Rapids has been recognized  for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award winner. Edwards, who attends Chaloner Middle School,  will appear in the United States Achievement Academy’s Official yearbook which is published nationally.

She is the daughter of Jennifer Robertson and the late Chris Edwards of Roanoke Rapids and the granddaughter of Alice Cullom, Evelyn Davis,  Winston Robertson and the late Wayne Edwards of Roanoke Rapids.

Credle graduates from North Carolina Central

Katresse L. Credle, daughter of Hugh and Carolyn Credle, recently graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University in Durham, with a Master’s in Special Education, Learning Disability. She resides in Raleigh, where she is employed in the Wake County School System.

Hawkins graduates

Joe Hawkins Jr., the son of Joe and Gloria Hawkins, graduated magna cum laude with a 3.5 grade point average from Winston-Salem State University on May 9. He received his Bachelor’s in Sport Management and has plans to attend North Carolina A&T to study Human Resource Management in the master’s program.
