ARLINGTON, Va. — V. June Starke, 52, of Arlington, Va., died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.

Ms. Starke was born May 31, 1957, in Roanoke Rapids, the daughter of James Monroe Starke and Hazel Crawley Starke.  She graduated from George Mason University in 1980 and was self-employed as a linguist and musician. Her joy was meeting and knowing people. She entertained Shriners in St. Augustine, Fla., and Alzheimer’s patients and others in Virginia and Maryland. She will be remembered for her joy, her wonderful voice and playing keyboard. She was a Christian, loved and was loved. She was listed in the University of Georgetown Who’s Who in 1980 as an outstanding student and lauded for her curricular activities. 

She is survived by her mother of Winchester. 

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., today, July 3, in the chapel of Jones Funeral Home in Winchester, with the Rev. Will White officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Interment is planned at a later date in Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
