Where were you?

One constantly reads “there is nothing to do here.” Where were you when “First for Freedom” was performed at the 4-H Center in Halifax? The story of our very own local and national history and so well done. There was a cast of approximately 40 people whom you could tell were well rehearsed. It was a musical and the singing was excellent. There was an audience of approximately 30 people. The cast must have been so disappointed to have worked so hard and so few came. The cast outnumbered the audience. It shows again tonight, June 26, and tomorrow, June 27, at 7 p.m. and July 2, at 7 p.m. Go see it — you might even learn something. Stop complaining about “there is nothing to do here,” and attend what is here or there really will be “nothing to do here.”

Missing promotions?

Why have the Eastman Middle School students not been told if they were promoted to the next grade, but the principal has been promoted/given her assigned school for 2009-2010 school year?

Board is the problem

Betty Balance is a very excellent athletic director. She has been very loyal to the Northampton County school system. She played ball at Northampton County-East and has served many years as a teacher and coach. The problem with the Northampton County school system is you have too many school board members on power trips … We need more diversity on the school board … I totally disagree with this move.

Where is the NAACP

That the person suspected of killing the girl at Applebee’s could be considered to have a mental health problem to explain the violence is a slap in the face of the victim and her family … Where is the NAACP? Why aren’t they speaking for the victim? This isn’t about color. Would they be speaking out this way if the victim was black and the suspect? I think it is important for the NAACP to say something on behalf of this young lady.

Leave him alone

Obama has inherited the worst economy since George Washington. Give the man a chance to do his job.
