What we see going on in Iran is just a mirror reflection of what happened in this country a few years ago. Is it time we pronounce judgment upon ourselves?

Hang up the rope

Concerning the senseless taking of a life at Applebee’s, someone said, “Get a rope.” That's the kind of hate thinking that leads to senseless killings. There must be a better answer than getting a rope. We heard a lot of this in the 50s, 60s and early 70s. Let us, please not go back!

Hypocrites in politics

It is amazing how the politicians condemn the South Carolina governor for his morality of having an extra martial affair and request his resignation. While on the other hand, they condone, are pushing for and making laws for abortion and gay marriages acceptable everyday practices. If they have any morals, they should condemn all those practices. Maybe we, the people, should request their resignations for what they are doing and have done.

Pastors

Many of us in church are wolves in sheep’s clothing and when we speak the words indicate the kind of person we are … and it uncovers the truth about us spiritually or sinfully … Why is that all these churches are without an assigned pastor? …

Preview of the future?

I would like to see Riverdance, Smokey Robinson, Ronnie Milshap or some oldies but goodies at The Roanoke Rapids Theatre.

Final results

Where are Eastman Middle School’s final results? The students don’t know if they have been promoted, but the principal knows where he/she is going next year.

Uniforms in church

I don’t think there is a problem with wearing your uniform to church … any kind of uniform. Just leave your work tools at home.

    " Those caught attempting to rob an elderly lady in Seaboard at gun point with her granddaughters present should be sentenced to life without parole. If Madoff got 150 for stealing peoples money without traumatizing them with a gun, these goons should get a similar sentence. "
