WINDSOR — The Roanoke Valley U10 all-stars remain the only undefeated team in their age division and after two convincing victories all they have to do is win one more game to bring the district title back home. The U10s made both games interesting (and stressful to Head Coach Bobby Martin) by pulling out come from behind victories. Friday in the tournament opener versus Cashie, the Roanoke Valley squad trailed 3-1 in the first inning before fighting back to tie the game on their way to a convincing, 16-6, victory.

Saturday versus Currituck, Roanoke Valley trailed 3-0 and went back and forth with Currituck before winning 10-6 to advance to today’s title game. Currituck, Camden and Dare County are the other three teams fighting for that last spot in the title game. Being that they are still undefeated, Roanoke Valley would have to be beaten twice today if any other team hopes to win the title.

In game one versus Cashie Brooke McClenny broke the tied game wide open with a solo home run that sailed over the center field fence. Brooke Robinson added an RBI, followed by an unearned run and that was just the beginning for the Roanoke Valley all-stars.

Jesse Lucas hit a two RBI triple, Camden Bierbauer scored a run with a triple and an unearned run put the Roanoke Valley all-stars ahead 10-4. Robinson scored another run and it didn’t take long for the U10s from the Roanoke Valley to shift into cruise control, riding that momentum all the way to the final out.

Saturday’s contest versus Currituck wasn’t as easy.

The Roanoke Valley all-stars had to fight back to tie the game at three, went ahead six and then had to hold off Currituck in the final inning to advance to today’s game. Halley Farrow made a game changing catch in the outfield that turned the tide of the contest. Hunter Martin and McClenny both pitched for the Roanoke Valley team who will play for the title at noon today.
