Minton weds Huggins during 6:30 p.m. ceremony at Myrick Estates in Littleton

Jenna Anne Minton and Andrew Chandler Huggins were married during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at her parent’s home in Myrick Estates, Littleton.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Winston Minton. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Douglas Williams of Merry Hill and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Winston Minton of Roxobel.

The bridegroom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Michael Bradford Huggins of Conover. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. James Russell McConnell Sr. of Fishers, Ind., and the late Lucille Emily McConnell, and Mr. and Mrs. Major Burrous Huggins of Raleigh.

The Rev. Charles Thomas Bodkin of Raleigh performed the nuptial ceremony.

A program of wedding music was provided by Capital String Ensemble of Raleigh and Joseph Michael Nolan, soloist.

 The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father. She wore a white taffeta gown with an A-line silhouette from Priscilla of Boston’s Vineyard Collection. It featured a strapless sweetheart neckline with a ruched drop-waist bodice and a draping overskirt that gathered in the back at the top of a sweeping train. Her dress was complemented by a white fingertip-length silk and tulle veil. She carried a hand tied bouquet consisting of antique white garden roses mixed with white French hydrangeas, robin’s egg blue hydrangeas and lily of the valley.

Mrs. Jeanie Minton White of Richmond, Va., sister of the bride, served as matron of honor and Miss Amanda Elizabeth Jones of Raleigh, friend of the bride, served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Andrea Claire Barnes of Raleigh, Miss Lauren Marie Barnes of Cary, Miss Crystal Tashera Jones of Raleigh, Mrs. Hadley Swain Kirkland of Tucson, Ariz., Miss Kristin Leah Mellon of Washington, D.C., Miss Elizabeth Ashley Thrower of Charlotte, Miss Mary Caroline Wellman of Charlottesville, Va., and Mrs. Lauren Nicole Wilson of Charlotte.

 Dr. Michael Bradford Huggins served as his son’s best man.  Groomsmen were Mr. Spencer McConnell Huggins of Buies Creek and Mr. William Michael Huggins of Conover, brothers of the bridegroom; Mr. Max Linton Berliner and Mr. Jonathan David Boone, both of Charlotte, Mr. Alexander Thomas Jenkins of Raleigh, Mr. Matthew Ryan Norman of Kernersville, Mr. Adam Landon Sipe of Johnson City, Tenn., Mr. Joseph Barton Stone of Wilmington, and Mr. Frank Neal White of Richmond.

Miss Shannon Leigh Mackey of Raleigh registered the guests. Miss Katherine Lynn Barmer of Morehead City and Mrs. Cristina Nelson Goslee of Richmond, Va., served as program attendants. Beverage attendants were Miss Kathryn Elizabeth Bucklew and Miss Courtney Elizabeth Sigmon, both of Washington, D.C.      

Scripture was read by Miss Kathryn Anna O’Neal of Raleigh. Mrs. Thomas  W. Gregory of Roanoke Rapids and Mrs. James F. Watson of Littleton served as mistresses of ceremonies.

The bride is a 2002 graduate of Roanoke Rapids High School. She received her doctorate of pharmacy degree from The University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill. She just recently completed a post-graduate pharmacy practice residency at the Durham Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She will be employed by Wake Medical Center as a clinical pharmacy specialist in cardiology.

The bridegroom is a 2003 graduate of Newton-Conover High School. He received his doctorate of pharmacy degree from The University of North Carolina School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill. He is employed by Drugco Discount Pharmacy in Roanoke Rapids as a pharmacist.

After a wedding trip to St. Lucia, a Caribbean island, the couple will reside in Raleigh.

Following the ceremony, the parents of the bride hosted a reception at their home in Littleton. Greeters were Mr. and Mrs. William O’Brien White Jr. and Dr. and Mrs. Fred Eugene Wier.

On Friday evening, the parents of the bridegroom hosted an after-rehearsal dinner at Chockoyotte Country Club in Weldon. Following the rehearsal dinner, a wedding eve celebration was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Barmer, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Barnes,  Mr. and Mrs. Jack Boseman, Mr. and Mrs. V.C. A bridesmaids’ luncheon was held on Friday, July 10, at the home of Mrs. Mary Wellman at Lake Gaston. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Denita Barnes, Mrs. Christina Gregory and Mrs. Susan Watson.

An engagement celebration was held on Saturday, Nov. 1, at the home of Miss Mandy Jones in Raleigh and was co-hosted by Mr. Alex Jenkins.

Mr. Max Berliner, Mr. Jonathan Boone and Mr. Matt Norman hosted an engagement party at the home of Mr. Berliner and Mr. Boone in Charlotte on Saturday, Jan. 31.

A stock-the-bar shower was held at The Mint Restaurant in Raleigh on Saturday, March 21, and was hosted by Mrs. Jeanie White. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Hadley Kirkland, Miss Kristin Mellon, Miss Beth Thrower and Mrs. Lauren Wilson.

An engagement party and poolside dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Parker Overton in Greenville on Saturday, May 30. Guests enjoyed an afternoon of golf and relaxing by the pool. A lakeside barbeque chicken cookout and miscellaneous shower was held on Saturday, June 6, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Edwards on Lake Gaston.  Hosts were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Edwards, Mr. and Mrs. Simmie Isles, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Long, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Newsome, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Reid, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Salmon and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tant.

A bachelorette weekend was celebrated on June 12-14, at Carolina Beach, and hosted by Miss Mandy Jones and Mrs. Jeanie White. A pamper the bride party was given at that time and enjoyed by several bridesmaids and attendants.

A bachelor weekend trip on June 12-14 to Las Vegas was enjoyed by many of the groomsmen.
